SDCCI is sold out, but Cool Jerk is not!
San Diego Comic-Con International is this week (July 23-27) and IT SOLD OUT! If you're one of the lucky quarter-million who'll be there, here's the low-down:
• Debuting at SDCCI: the SECOND Cool Jerk collected edition Chickadoowa! OMG! This is the good stuff, Maynard! Fresh off the presses, Chickadoowa contains more than 200 strips, but here's the kicker: more than A QUARTER of them are ALL NEW and HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEN BY HUMAN EYEBALLS! It's true! Plus, it contains all the fun extra stuff you've come to expect from Hodabeast (Cool Jerk Vol. 1) like sketches, outtakes, director's commentary and an index! Each book is $12 for hours upon hours of laughter and enjoyment!
• Also making its San Diego debut is my 24-Hour Comic starring Doc Splatter! It's the printed version of the comic I created last October (24 pages of comic written & drawn in 24 consecutive hours). What's extra cool is that it directly ties in with Chickadoowa so you'll HAVE to get one! It's a mere $2 -- less than .09¢ per page!
• If you've been to my table before, good news! Team Cool Jerk is in the exact same spot as the past five years! Here's a little map I whipped up while you were shaving.
• Team Cool Jerk will also have T-shirts, mini-comics, stickers, button packs, window decals and other effluvia for sale!

I hate to be late...
...but this week's Cool Jerk will arrive clandestinely sometime this weekend. I spent the better part of today hammering out the minutia of Chickadoowa (Cool Jerk Vol. 2) with the printers. You might be wondering, "Hey! I thought Chickadoowa was at the printers in China for the past month!" Well, that fell through because China didn't kick down a proper printer's proof (aka "blue line"). In the time it took for them to get me one, the deadline would be blown. So I'm going local.
RR Donnelley is handling the printing and I'll have the privilege of being there on-site to check quality pre- and post-press! I'm actually really excited. Yeah it costs more than the China option but the lack of stress is worth it. Thanks to Natasha Lewis (my printing rep) for putting as much importance on this book as I am.

Hornographic spread in Wizard #199!
Our Man Horn has a two-page spread in Wizard Magazine 199 (May, '08), on sale today!
It's a street-level map of Manhattan in the Marvel Universe, pointing out all the landmarks found there (Baxter Building, Stark Tower, Avengers Mansion, etc.). It was a lot of fun to do and it reproduced perfectly! The whole thing was done in FreeHand, then converted to Illustrator (blech!) for the Wizard production people.
So be sure to pick up a copy today, and write Wizard and tell them how much you love my graphics!! =:^)

WonderCon is in the air
WonderCon! Cool Jerk will be chillin' in San Francisco's Moscone Center South Friday through Sunday, February 22-24, 2008. It's true, these things I say! I'll be in the Artists' Alley, surrounded by creative freaks, cartooning miscreants and their ilk. If you're within a 1,000-mile radius of the Bay Area, drop everything and swing by to say "Hi!" More importantly, surrender some folding money on reasonably priced Cool Jerk merchandise, including my book Hodabeast, T-shirts of many varieties, Cool Jerk button 5-packs, mini-comics and other goods you can't possibly live without!
Plus, be the first to see the pre-press proof of the second volume of Cool Jerk, "Chickadoowa!" Like its predecessor, it's 144 pages of comic genius! And -- as always -- I'll have some freebee stuff at the table, too. Hook the kids with a free sample, get 'em addicted, make the sale. That's what I always say.

Store signing in the land of the Rising Sun
No, not Japan... someplace much closer (if you live in SoCal, that is).
So, what're you doing the day before the Super Bowl? Well, if you live within 400-500 miles of San Diego, you OUGHTA be at Rising Sun Creations for an in-store book signing! It's true! Hornographic image in Jack Kirby Collector #49

OK. Who's Lainie Kazan? She's a singer/actress who starred in "Lust in the Dust" and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Who is Big Barda? One of Jack "The King" Kirby's creations for DC Comics in the early 1970s. What do they have in common? EVERYTHING!

24hr. Comic has something for nearly everybody!
I done did it! 24hr. Comics Day was last weekend and I KICKED ITS ASS! Well, just barely. I pounded out a 24-page comic in 24 consecutive hours, and you can check it out HERE if you like (it's a .pdf; some browsers will open it directly, others will initiate a download). My gal Darlene kept me going with caffeine, food, minimal distractions, pokes to the ribs and a blog that (kinda) documented the whole, sordid event. My hand didn't even cramp up on me until the last 1/2-hour!
WARNING -- Comic contains gore, violence, a couple nipples, a sasquatch, hillbillies, lots of scary images not suitable for sensitive readers and a naked Jeff Goldblum (also not suitable for sensitive readers)!

Cool Jerk vs Hotmail and MSN
If you're a subscriber and happen to have a Hotmail or MSN suffix, you likely haven't seen the weekly Cool Jerk mailer. Why? I've been getting massive bouncebacks from Hotmail and MSN addresses. It's not your fault -- it's them. For some reason, they (Hotmail and MSN) think any anonymous (BCC:) mailing from my IP address to their addresses is junk.
I'm trying to hammer out the problem on my end. I don't want to pay for the privilege of having MSN allow me to send email to you, so you friends with Hotmail or MSN addys may be out of luck. BUT, if you happen to have another address that you'd like to use, please let me know (PLEASE be sure to tell me what Hotmail or MSN to remove so I can minimize e-clutter). Thanks!

Cool Jerk vs Brave New World!
Bring your sketchbook and some folding money to Brave New World in Newhall, CA... I'll be doing an in-person signing there next week, pimping my super-awesome book Hodabeast, Cool Jerk T-shirts and meeting comics fans! It's true! See me there in the pasty, non-tanned flesh Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007. It'll be like Comic-Con except A) no cost to get in, and B) it'll smell nicer! And why Thursday? Well, that's NEW COMICS DAY, chief (it's usually every Wednesday but Labor Day will bump shipments to Thursday). The folks at BNW are truly awesome. Their shop was up for an Eisner Award this year (Spirit of Comics Retailing category) and they've been loving Cool Jerk long time. So if you're in a 300-mile radius of the Magic Mountain area, come by!
